We're glad you asked! Once you choose your solution you will begin a short
startup interview which will customize QuickBooks™ Online for your business. With QuickBooks™ Online
Plus or Online Essentials you can import your data from another version of QuickBooks™ (most
current versions will convert and upload) or start from scratch. Either way, you are ready to go
in no time at all.
How much accounting do I need to know?
We designed QuickBooks™ Online to be as easy to use as possible. You don't
need to know accounting. If you know how to write checks, create and send invoices, and file your
bills, you'll know how to use QuickBooks™ Online. To help, we offer easy instructions and simple,
recognizable forms so you can quickly and confidently be up and running.
Can I add optional features later?
Yes, you can add any features to your QuickBooks™ Online service at any
time such as QuickBooks™ Payroll and QuickBooks™ Payments (additional fees apply).

What is included in the QuickBooks™ Online subscription?
QuickBooks™ Online includes: Full use of the features of the particular
version of QuickBooks™ Online, automatic upgrades to your selected version at no extra cost, secure
storage of your data, and product support1 at no extra cost. You can add optional
features at any time for an additional monthly fee.

Can I install QuickBooks™ on a Linux or Macintosh?
A Linux computer can only be used as a database server to store shared
company data files. For more information, refer to Run QuickBooks™ on Linux and Preparing to
install Linux Database Server Manager.To install QuickBooks™ on a Macintosh, refer to
Installing or reinstalling QuickBooks™ on a Macintosh.
What happens if my Internet access is down?
If your Internet connection at your current location is down you won't be
able to access QuickBooks™ Online. But, you can still access your books from any computer with an
Internet connection. It may be a hassle, but you can go to the local coffee or copy shop that has
Internet access available.
Do you back up my data?
Yes. In addition to always maintaining two copies of your data, we
automatically back up your updated data every day. It's stored on firewall protected, redundant
servers so your data is safe from hardware and software failures, hackers and viruses. Because we
update your records with every change, we cannot restore your file to a previous point in time.
Can I get a copy of my data on my hard drive?
Yes. You have the option to download a copy of your data and keep it on
your own computer (known as a local copy). This gives you the added comfort and control of storing
the data yourself as well as having us back it up.

Once you've signed up for QuickBooks™ Online, you can sign in here.
QuickBooks™ Online Trial
It's really easy. Click "Try It Free" on the website and fill out a short
startup interview. In about 10 minutes you'll have access to the full QuickBooks™ Online service.
You can cancel anytime-it's risk-free!
What happens to my trial data if I decide to subscribe?
If you subscribe to QuickBooks™ Online during the trial, you will continue
using the same company file you created. If you do not subscribe, you can access your data in a
read-only format for 90 days after the expiration of the trial period. After 90 days it is
deleted.Note: Once you begin a Free Trial with Plus, you cannot convert your data from the
Plus Trial to Essentials or Simple Start. If you switch to a lower tier you will have to input
your data manually.

Does QuickBooks™ Online have the same features as other QuickBooks™ software?
QuickBooks™ Online does not have an identical set of features to other
QuickBooks™ Desktop products. We designed it specifically for businesses that need to access their
books remotely and/or allow multiple people to work simultaneously. Some of its features are
unique while many are the same or similar to other QuickBooks™ products.
QuickBooks™ Basic Payroll
What do I need to be able to use Basic Payroll?
You'll need Internet access so Basic Payroll Basic can download the latest payroll tax rates
for your automatic paycheck calculations.
Also, the federal government requires every person or company paying wages to have an
Employer Identification Number (EIN). Employers must include it on all federal forms and
returns. You can apply for an EIN and get it immediately at the IRS Web site at https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/apply-for-an-employer-identification-number-ein-online
If you choose to buy Basic Payroll in QuickBooks, you will also need to have QuickBooks™ Pro
or Premier 2011 or newer. If you choose to buy Online Basic Payroll, QuickBooks™ is not required.
Can I switch to Basic Payroll mid-year?
Yes. But, if you've already paid employees this year, you'll need to enter
your year-to-date payroll history, so the calculations are correct. QuickBooks™ step-by step guide can
help you.
If you're paying employees for the first time this year, there's no payroll history to
enter. So, it’s easy to get started.
Does Basic Payroll handle both hourly and salaried employees?
Yes.
Does Basic Payroll handle bonuses, commissions, and overtime?

How do I pay my employees with Basic Payroll?
Just enter employees' hours, and Basic Payroll will calculate paychecks,
subtracting payroll taxes and deductions.
Then print paychecks instantly or use QuickBooks™ convenient Direct Deposit.
You can also pay groups of employees on different days. For example, you may pay salaried
employees monthly, while paying hourly employees every two weeks.
With Basic Payroll, can I pay employees using direct deposit?
You can deposit pay into U.S. bank accounts with Intuit's Direct
Deposit. You can also deposit pay to Intuit Pay Cards (ATM/debit cards that don't require bank
accounts).
With QuickBooks™ flexible Direct Deposit, you can add or remove an employee, or edit their banking
information, anytime. You can also choose to pay some employees by direct deposit and others by
check.
You must send Direct Deposit transactions to us by 5pm (Pacific Time) two business banking days
before the paycheck date. You can deposit paychecks into up to two different accounts per
employee.
By using Direct Deposit, you no longer need to print pay stubs, since employees can view their
paystubs online.
How much does Direct Deposit cost?
Direct Deposit is free with your subscription to Basic Payroll. By using Direct Deposit, you no

How does Basic Payroll help me with payroll taxes?
Basic Payroll tracks federal and state payroll taxes for paycheck calculations only. However,
Basic Payroll does not include any tax forms (choose Enhanced Payroll for this
feature). With Basic Payroll, you can generate reports and work with your accountant on taxes.

How does Enhanced Payroll help me with payroll taxes?

On paydays, all online transactions are protected using the same kind of encryption used by
leading banks.
Do I have to sign up separately to accept credit cards AND bank transfers?
Nope. The great thing about QuickBooks™ Payments is that it includes all
forms of payment acceptance in just one account. Use what you want, how you want to get yourself
paid faster.
Can I control what type of payment my customer pays by?
Yes, you are in full control of how your customers can pay. When you add a
Pay Now button2 to your emailed invoice, you'll have the ability to turn on or off
credit card processing and bank transfers for that particular invoice. So say you have a $15,000
invoice you only want paid by Bank Transfer. You got it. Just uncheck credit cards when you are
sending your invoice and your customer will only be able to pay by Bank Transfer. If you leave
both credit card and bank transfer options on, you're likely to get paid even faster since more
customers prefer to pay by credit card, but the choice is up to you. You can always resend an
invoice at a later time and re-enable both payment types as well. It's that flexible…and it's that
easy.
How much is it to make a bank transfer payment?
It's a flat $0.50 per bank transfer payment, no matter how much that
transaction is.
Do payments I make with GoPayment download into QuickBooks?
Yes. All payments made on the GoPayment app can be easily downloaded back
to QuickBooks™ and closed as a Sales Receipt, or matched up against an open Invoice. However, if
you are a QuickBooks™ Online users, you can additionally use the QuickBooks™ Mobile app to process
payments. This is the preferred method since any payments made through the QuickBooks™ Online
mobile app will automatically sync back with QuickBooks™ Online, versus having to be manually
downloaded back when processed through the GoPayment app.
How do I update my data to a new version of QuickBooks?
Your data from an earlier version of QuickBooks™ will update automatically the first time you
open the Company file in a new version of QuickBooks. Updating your data includes backing up the
Company file in its current version format so you can revert back to the previous version of
QuickBooks™ if needed.
